Job Description
ANZSCO Code: 323211 Fitter (General). We are recruiting two full-time permanent Fitters to join our team in Auckland City. The role involves fitting fabricated metal parts, assembling subassemblies, machining, and performing maintenance and repairs on mechanical and fluid power equipment.
Responsibilities
- Study drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, methods and sequence of operations
- Fit fabricated metal parts into products and assemble metal parts and subassemblies
- Check fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
- Set guides, stops and other controls on machining tools and set up cutting/shaping tools and dies
- Form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances using machining tools (press, cut, grind, plane, bore, drill)
- Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Prepare pattern mechanisms and perform diagnostics and operational maintenance of machines
- Overhaul and repair mechanical parts and fluid power equipment; may erect machines and equipment on-site
Requirements
- NZ Register Level 4 qualification or at least three years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in fitting, machining or mechanical assembly
- Ability to read drawings and use precision measuring tools
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
